Introduction Forest Ecosystems is a course with 2 credits of full practice credit. This course aims to provide time and space for students to interact directly with forests and the components of their ecosystems, including indigenous people. With the potential of forest ecosystems in Jambi which are complete, ranging from mangrove forests, peat swamps, lowland forests to mountain forests. Students are taught to interact with the community around the forest and know all the activities of the community around the forest in managing the forest.

Observations on mountain forest ecosystems was carried out in Gunung Tujuh, Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS) on  27 June 2022 – 01 July 2022. Observations on peat forests was carried out on 02 July 2022 in the peat forest of Pematang Rahim village, Tanjung Jabung Regency; and Observation in Pangkal Babu mangrove forest ecosystem, Tanjung Jabung Regency on l3–5 July 2022. The aims of this field practice activity are to increase students ability for:

  1. Able to understand peat, mangrove and mountain ecosystem and their components
  2. Able to identify and measure the parameters of peat, mangrove and mountain ecosystem components
  3. Able to understand about behavior, process, roles and function of every type in peat, mangrove and mountain ecosystem for peoples who live around the forest
