The strategy that has been carried out by the Forestry Department, Jambi University is to improve the soft skills of students through the mechanism of establishing a village training camp (social laboratory) in Ladang Peris, Batanghari regency.  Students live with the community around forest for 2 days. The activities include:

Day 1.

• Students meeting with village official and community leaders
• Students interview the farmers
• Students visit to rubber plantation of farmers
• Students discussion on rubber management

• Students discussion on rubber management

Day 2.

• Students practice rubber plantation and rubber management
• Students practice rubber tapping
